WOW! What a term!
Poetry Recital
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents and family members who were able to attend our Year 3 and 4 poetry recital, this week. Your presence made the event even more special, and we truly appreciate your support.
The children have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks, carefully selecting, practising, and performing their poems with confidence and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they shared their pieces with such expression and passion. Events like these provide an invaluable opportunity for our children to develop their public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and foster a love for poetry and performance.
Thank you once again for being a part of this memorable occasion. We look forward to welcoming you to more school events in the future!
RE
In our RE lessons, we have been learning about Buddhism, one of the world's oldest and most peaceful religions. It has been fascinating to explore the teachings, traditions, and beliefs that guide Buddhists in their daily lives. We also learnt about different Buddhist practices, such as meditation, chanting, and mindfulness. There are many valuable lessons we have explored from its teachings including: kindness, mindfulness, and compassion—values that can help us in our everyday lives.
English
This week in English, our children were shocked and appalled to learn that McDonald's was allegedly proposing to purchase a small section of our school field to expand their franchise. The very idea of losing part of their beloved outdoor space to a fast-food chain sparked a passionate response from the children, who quickly rallied together to voice their concerns.
Drawing upon their understanding of healthy eating, the children channelled their energy into writing formal letters to our local MP. Their letters outlined strong objections to the proposal, emphasising the negative impact that such an expansion could have on both their well-being and the school environment. They carefully constructed their arguments, using persuasive language and well-reasoned points.
Fortunately, after submitting their heartfelt letters to their teachers, the children were relieved to learn that the proposal was entirely fictitious! The activity was designed to encourage critical thinking, persuasive writing, and an awareness of the importance of healthy choices. Through this engaging exercise, the children not only strengthened their writing skills but also gained confidence in using their voices to stand up for issues they care about.
Maths:
This week in Maths, the children have been diving into the exciting world of multiplication and division, using bar models to help with problem-solving. Throughout the week, children have been learning how to use arrays, groups, and repeated addition or subtraction to strengthen their understanding of these operations. By using bar models, they have been able to visualise problems more clearly, making it easier to find solutions. It has been an engaging and productive week, filled with hands-on activities and interactive learning. The children have made fantastic progress in their multiplication and division skills, and we look forward to building on this knowledge, next term.
