Termly Home Learning Task - Term 2: Walk Like an Egyptian
This term in Year 4 we are exploring the Ancient Egyptians - how they lived and significant events and figures from the time. We would like the children to delve into the topic during their home learning by exploring one of these tasks, or a related task of their choosing. They may present their work in any way that they wish; it could be a presentation, poster, or something that they make, the possibilities are endless. This piece of work will need to be brought back into school before the last week of term. If something is physically created, please can this be brought in or a photo stuck into books so we can celebrate the children’s success!
Please bring in any Thematic homework before the end of term.
English:
In English this week we read a book called The Egyptian Cinderella. We wrote a diary entry as the protagonist, Rhodopis and began to write a continuation of the story using speech punctuation for dialogue. Year 3 also paid us a visit to share a book and their love of reading.
Next week we will continue with our dialogue to advance the plot.
Maths:
This week in maths our work focused on bar charts. We read and interpreted bar charts by answering some questions and then constructed our own using a frequency table.
Next week we will continue with our unit on discrete and continuous data by looking at, and constructing, time graphs.
Thematic Curriculum:
This week during our afternoon lessons, we looked at Ancient Egyptian architecture and ordered some historical events on a timeline.
Christmas also arrived at Upton this week in the form of our Christmas hoops. The children used a range of materials to create some festive or wintery pieces of art. Check out the finished articles.
Next week we will be exploring some science related to digestion, teeth and food chains.
